Cardiff Bay is the perfect base from which to explore the Bristol Channel with its many fishing marks and wrecks and is well regarded for its Cod Fishing, not to mention the excellent Conger, Bass, Rays, Smoothounds and Tope fishing. The Cod season tends to start at the end of September and runs right through to the middle of March, with the best time being October to January, then again in March and April as the fish feed up before they move off into the Irish sea for the summer. The Bristol Channel reputation for Cod fishing is legendary and with all the little codling being caught in the 2009 - 2010 season it looks very promising for the future.
